Purple corn

Purple cornZea mays

It is native to the Andes region of Peru and possesses one of the deepest purple tones found in the vegetable kingdom. Due to its rich purple colour, the corn pigments are used to enrich and at the same time naturally dye food and drinks. Its high anthocyanin content makes it popular as an antioxidant.
